Then and Now - a segment all about a coveted sartorial transformation of our favourite celebrities over the years, where we pin the highlight of the look (for inspirations, of course) and bookmark what's in - or not.
Welcome to the weekend special of Then and Now, where we will be talking about the Bollywood boss lady Radhika Apte in Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna outfits, which she wore to the Star Screen Awards in 2016 and to Vogue Beauty Awards in 2019. We are definitely taking notes from this style evolution from the diva, who is known to ace every outfit that she wears.
We are all aware of Radhika's powerful demeanour and bold choice of movies (no wonder she's a Netflix-constant), which is why this black pant-set from the designer duo didn't leave us surprised. Her preference for sleeker silhouettes and power-dressing shows through this straight-from-work look.
The sleeveless black blazer with cigarette pants serve as the perfect exemplar of a classy desk-to-red-carpet look, which she further accentuated with a crystal choker - that perhaps was the give-away that it indeed is, a red-carpet look. Being the only contender in the race for pulling off such a minimal outfit for an awards function, Radhika opted to keep it safe and simple.
Knowing very well that she has the personality and the confidence to pull off any outfit, we would have wished to see her in a tad bit more detailed outfit. Although, we are definitely fans of her dewy, fresh makeup and a barely-there lipstick. The sleek chignon, too, was in tandem with the outfit, that is of course more apt for a work meeting.
In 2019, we saw a 360-degree turn in Radhika Apte's 2016 look. Think: a sexy cut-out gown took the place of the pant-set, bold lip colours instead of a super-nude one and the hairstyle was fun, messy, and just on point. Surely Anaita Shroff Adajania deserves credit here, considering it was Vogue Beauty Awards. We just can't get over how stunning she looks in this metallic and sequin gown which featured a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit. The classic black pumps too, were replaced by these transparent- star embroidered ones.
Let's just say that her style evolution is just as noteworthy of her movie choices (or rather Netflix series).
