A Mumbai-born footballer who has played for more clubs in India and the United States than one can recollect, Kean is the quintessential all-rounder. The Aza team has a tete-a-tete with one of the most promising players in the country to discuss his game, his life plans, and of course, his fashion choices.
What inspired you to play football?
Although I had been involved in numerous sports during my school days, I always kept coming back to football. I started playing for the Mahindra United under-15 team after my school principal urged my parents to let me compete for their tryouts, post which, I went on to become a state-level football player. Honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way!
Which teams do you support?
In EPL, I support Liverpool. I am inclined towards Liverpool because of one of my favourite players - Steven Gerrard. As a country, I support Spain, purely because I like their style of game.
Who has been your role model?
I have not one, but two role models - my parents - who have allowed me to pursue my passion despite the fact that no one in my family has ever had any history with choosing sports as a profession. It is difficult to make such a decision without resorting to rebellion, but my family's constant support has made it possible for me to make it big, even professionally.
What's your personal style like? What would you most likely be found wearing if not a football jersey?
My personal style is quite casual. If not a football jersey, I'd be seen wearing anything that's comfortable. Since I'm always on the
move, I prefer apparel which lets comfort take the driver's seat.
What's next for you?
Same except one change - playing for India would be one of my highest achievements -something that every player of ISL aspires for.
